When I worked at The Non-Profit we used to frequent this bar we called 300 beers. That wasn’t the name of the place, of course, but that was what you could see printed on the side of their awning as you walked up the street from our office: 300 beers on tap. There was a little sign hanging below it that read Good Food. After enough times there we realized that neither sign was actually true.
Management at this place got cute with the bathroom decor; both the ladies’ and the men’s rooms had beer related quotes stenciled all over the walls. Last night my friend S. told me about his favorite quote, which was not one of management’s choosing. On the wall above the urinal in thick, black marker someone had written the following:
Remember that no matter how beautiful she is, somewhere someone is sick of her shit.
Something to remember in a culture that venerates youth and beauty above all else.
On this date in 1856 George Bernard Shaw was born. So, for today’s quote, I give you Mr. Shaw’s thoughts on his profession:
